Paving and Patio Lying
There is increasing interest in having a patio garden. When summer blooms completely it is a good time to create a patio garden with use of garden paving. There are many styles of garden paving and garden products, which can help you to create a beautiful patio garden and enjoy it after the job is complete. During the warm days of summer, spring or autumn, patio can be a good place to relax and spend time with family and friends. When the lawn is wet or muddy after or during rainfall, you can sit on the solid floor of your patio and enjoy visual pleasures of your garden.
If you are creating a patio from scratch, you might need to consider few design options for paving. This way, your patio is something more than the flat surface paved with some stones. You can lay your patio with wooden surface or the natural or manmade stones. Level of its floor can be raised to the level of existing floors of the house. These patios are very easy to clean as they can be washed down easily.
Paving a garden requires planning and a little bit of experience with such jobs. It may be better to contact some professionals who could do it for you. But if you want to complete this job yourself, I believe you will still need advice from a professional regarding some solutions. Remember that there is also something like a stone laying machine which can make this job easier for you.
If you still want to do paving of patio by yourself, you can lay a loose-brick paved patio. Although a loose-brick patio will not last as long as the mortared or cemented one but it looks good and is less expensive. Choose a place, which gets some shade.
At first, you need to prepare the surface. Get wooden stakes and strings to cover the patio area. Dig up all the sod from that area using a flat spade. Level that area with a spade to make it smooth. Take a plastic weed blocker and spread over the area with its sides up. It should be spread in such a way that no soil is exposed.
Now cover the area with about 2 inches of soil. Make sure the level of the place is perfect. Take garden hose and wet the sand completely using light spray. While pouring water, make sure that level of the sand is not disturbed. Repeat this action several times to make the soil settle tightly. Then allow the soil to dry completely for one day.
Now start laying the pavers. Start it from the edges. You can use any configurations like staggered rows, alternative squares or straight grid. Place two tiles at a time in opposite directions. There should be around ¼-inch gap between two tiles. Cover the whole area with pavers and now when the job is done cover it with sand to fill the gaps.
Obviously, you can improvise here but it may be also a well planned task. If you have some skills you can make some drawings earlier and then continue your work according to them.
